The tenant on this property called us when they noticed the seepage coming into their home. When we got to the property to take a look at the damage, we realized that the water was coming from the outside of the home. When we took a closer look we saw that the reason for this was because the dirt on the outside of the house was higher than it was supposed to be. However, that makes the seepage much more difficult to notice. The water saturated the carpets and the entire concrete slab.
To resolve this mess, we started with removing all of the carpeting that had been affected. This takes some time because after we had pulled up the carpet we had to wait for everything underneath it to finish drying out before we could put new carpet in. After we finished that step we moved on to the concrete. We began this process by pulling up all of the original concrete. Then we put in new concrete, and had to wait for that to dry as well. Finally we were done!
Leaks can be a frustrating and costly problem for homeowners. Water infiltration can lead to a host of problems including structural damage, mold growth and indoor air quality concerns. When water infiltrates into a house, it can cause damage on a range from cosmetic to severe. Some examples of what water can do to your home include causing metal to rust, paint and wallpaper to blister and peel, wood to rot, and possibly threatening the structure of the building, which can lead to more damage or possible collapse of the home.
There are many potential leak causes but some of the most common include, damaged or deteriorated pipes or plumbing fixtures, poor installation or maintenance, high water pressure, clogs, human error, corrosion, and structural damage. All of these are very annoying to deal with, so it is best to address the leaks as soon as possible to prevent damage and reduce water waste.
The owner of this property was very glad that they called us right away when they realized something was wrong. That way we were able to take care of the situation, and fix up their home before any further damage was done.
