When we were called about a supply line leak, we immediately knew this was a job for our plumber. We sent him over to find the supply line leak and fix it. The leak was coming in from the upstairs neighbors. While eliminating the leak, he noticed that there was also a sewer leak coming from the same upstairs neighbors the supply line leak had come from. After being notified of this, we wanted to investigate further to see if there were any more issues.

In all, there was a ceiling bow, a sewer leak in ceiling, and lots of mold. The mold was a result from the moisture of both leaks. There were many more problems than first assumed but we were up for the job.

To start, we used containment protocol to section off the kitchen from the rest of the house with plastic, so the mold spores didn't spread to other parts of the house. This protocol also helped to keep the remainder of the house clean while we repaired the sewer leak. We had to remove many of the kitchen furnishings, including all of the doors and drawers to the cabinets, while we were restoring the kitchen.

Next, we removed all of the mold in the kitchen. To do this we simply cut out all wood and drywall that had mold on it. Then we dehumidified the kitchen to remove the moisture in the air. If we did this before extracting mold it would blow all of the mold spores around and make this a much bigger project.  Finally, we removed the drywall that had bowed, and examined the ceiling there. There were no further problems, so we patched the hole in the drywall with a new piece of drywall where the ceiling bow had been.

Finally, we had resolved all of the problems this home was experiencing. The project was much larger than we had originally anticipated, but in the end everything was as it should be. The Owner was very happy with the work we had done and how we were able to resolve all of the additional problems no one had anticipated.
