The Problem

This house in Spring Valley had a serious problem. There was a water line leak behind the refrigerator. This is a common problem that can go unnoticed for long periods of time causing large problems with water damage and mold. The Journey

To begin we ripped out the countertops, cabinets, and flooring. We had to demo the cabinets and countertops because the water was in the drywall behind the cabinets and under the floor below the cabinets. In these cases we cannot dry out the area without opening it up to air flow. Before removing the flooring or drywall we tested the materials for asbestos. In doing so we found that there was asbestos in the flooring. Asbestos is a mineral that can get stuck in the lungs and cause a condition called mesothelioma, which is a dangerous, uncurable form of cancer. Luckily, we followed testing protocols and were able to protect the residents, clear it out and make it safe. We also found mold behind the cabinets.

The Solution

In the end the leak behind the refrigerator was fixed, along with all the other additional problems it had caused. Our customers ended up with new flooring, countertops, and cabinets.
